Re: 20" x 9.5" Type 168 wheel & 2 tyres.

Hi, yes just the one. I kerbed it not long after getting the X5 (!) so I filled it & sprayed it. It's not bad but one came up on ebay that was in good condition so I bought that to replace it. Ideally it wants a proper refurb but it's not buckled & looks tidy enough as it is.

Free - 20" x 9.5" Type 168 wheel & 2 tyres - NOW GONE.

Hi, now the X5 has gone I've got a spare 20" type 168 wheel ( front 9.5" wide ? ) fitted with a part worn Toyo Proxes S/T 275 / 40 / 20, I've also got another part worn Toyo Proxes tyres in the same size. Both tyres have a decent amount of tread ( I would guess about 4mm but a little more worn on ...

& it's goodbye from me :-)

Hi, just thought I'd pop in to say goodbye ! We sold the X5 today :-( Unfortunately our Husky is now 13 years old & has cataracts & can no longer jump into or out of the boot so we needed something lower & have bought a 13 plate Audi A4 Avant Quattro Black Edition. 2.0 diesel 177ps. The X5 will be a ...

Re: Non star rated tyre circumference

Hi, manufactures must have a reasonable allowance to account for wear rates of tyres ? My X has 20" staggered set up & as you've found the difference front to rear circumference is tiny but if you replace all 4 tyres, the fronts generally wear quicker than the rears anyway so the difference will ...

Re: Toyo Proxes ST II

Hi, Thanks for the heads up, I know that on some 4x4's it is crucial that different size tyres or even new & worn tyres between the front & rear axles can cause problems ( Kia Sorento's where well known for this ) But as has been said it's more important that different tyres are not fitted to the ...

Re: Thoughts on none original 168 X5 wheels ?

Only other potential problem to watch for is I thought some of the after market wheels where a lot heavier than OE, so if mixing them it may cause problems with handling etc ??

Re: Toyo Proxes ST II

Hi, thanks for the replies. I emailed the supplier regarding the lack of labelling for the STII's & got a reply back to say they had no information so I emailed Toyo UK & they replied to say the STII was made for the USA market & that they do not comply with EU regulations ? In the end & after a lot ...

Toyo Proxes ST II

Hi, I haven't been on for a while, was considering replacing the X5 as our husky can no longer jump into the back but having looked around there's not much to compare for similar money so going to get a dog ramp. Anyway, I posted way back in January about replacement front tyre recommendations but ...

Re: Tyre Recommendations

Hi Jeff, thanks for the recommendation. I did look at the Yoko's but do they have a rim protector band on them ?

Thehinch - I haven't used a comparison site as such, I just do a search with the likes of Black Circles, Costco, Camskill etc. Most sites should you the new ratings now.

Tyre Recommendations

Hi, I've been running my X5 with staggered 20's fitted with Toyo Proxes S/T's & have been very happy with them but it would appear that they have stopped producing this pattern & the 275/40 fronts are no longer available. I will be needing some soon & have been looking around at alternatives. I have ...

Re: X5 in the snow: what's the consensus?

Hi all, There's a difference between ' never got stuck once' & being able to brake &/or steer yourself out of trouble when things all go wrong. Winter tyres are not just about getting you going, they are more about being able to stop & steer when the roads are cold / wet / icy / snow covered. We may ...
