And.... my first commute to work. This was on the return journey where the (M25) traffic was not so stop/start.
Its 45 miles in total.

Re: Picking up new X1 tomorrow
Yeah, its ok on smooth surfaces, but rough and broken surfaces come through more. The Harmon/Kardon helps a bit though

Re: Picking up new X1 tomorrow
Hi guys, Well, its a great car, and not as small as they look (especially next to an X5). The X5 had less road noise, but I think thats the run flat tyres on the X1 as my dad's E70 X5 is noisier than the old E53. However engine noise on the X1 is less, although not quite has muscular as the 3.0d ...

Re: E53 2005 3.0d - Possible gearbox issue
I spoke to a local well known Auto Gearbox specialist just now. Luckily they have a ZF specialist there, who obviously knew his stuff as he mentioned the knocking into 1st gear issue. His first comment was that most of the X5's that go in with the ZF gearbox have suffered electrical issues rather ...

Re: E53 2005 3.0d - Possible gearbox issue
Having done some more investigation on the internet, it seems the Torque convertor can be an issue on the ZF gearbox, and does give the droning sound that I mentioned.... should I be worried?

E53 2005 3.0d - Possible gearbox issue
I've had a look through the searches and can't quite find the issue i'm having so hopefully I can explain it. A couple of weeks ago I left home (cold engine), and along the side road from my house it felt like the handbrake was on (25mph), something just didnt seem right. I had been towing a 500kg ...

Re: FAO bwchiptune.co.uk RE live Remap
Its a Nov 2005 build 3.0d. My dad had it from new, and at 40'isk k miles it had new Gearbox fluid to fix a strange chirp noise on certain gear changes (never happened again, now at 100k). I tend to get 32-36mpg on longer runs, but I get irritated that it doesn't use the low down torque when i'm just ...

Re: Hi from Herts
Thanks Don. Yep, i'm ok with a spanner. I do get my car serviced at our local BMW garage as they have always been very good, and a good price, but I will do other stuff myself. When I had the 320d I did the leaky fuel tank breather myself... never again!!! also, crank breathers, air filters ...

Re: Hi from Herts
Yours does look nice Sanj. I do love the 20” alloy option, but I believe you have to also do the arch extensions to make it look good (can’t see in your aviator pic). I’d be interested in more details on fitting Folding mirrors, Reversing camera (I guess I need SatNav screen for that?), ‘is’ trim, an ...

Re: Hi from Herts
Thanks. One thing I do want to do is get the Webasto heater working again. The Electric water pump appears to not be working, so I guess it has blocked it. Still it just passed another MOT without an advisory which is nice.
