Is it a hybrid?

I have a BMW X5 4.0d 2018 (F15) described by BMW as having Efficiency Dynamics. i understand the car additionally charges one battery when braking or during over-run which is used to power its stop-start technology and the other battery maintains all the electrical systems. It sounds to be the same ...

Count down for service seems stuck!

Greetings everyone,
My F15 4.0d 2018 was last serviced before the lockdown in 2020. The countdown was reset to 18000 miles. It's not done many miles since - 17000. Each occasion I've visited the dealers they say go by the countdown to determine the next service rather than time. It counted down as ...

recall - Exhaust gas recirculation

Greetings all - I had a phone call from my local BMW dealer today telling me there is a recall for my car (F15 X40d 2018) to replace a unit that deals with Exhaust gas circulation. Car is booked in for the job in a couple of weeks time. I'm told it will take a day!

I cannot find much about this on ...

2007 Diesel E70 X5

Hello,

Did you code your new battery to the car? I had a 2008 E70 that had to have 2 batteries during the 10 years I owned it - I believe both needed to be coded to the car so the smart charging system worked properly.

Bonnet strut replacement between 4 and 5 years - pedestrian safety

My F15 X5 4.0d registered in March 2018 went in for MOT last Friday in February at the main dealership near where I live. it will be 4 years old in a couple of weeks. I was told it will need the bonnet struts replaced as they'll be past their expiry date by the next brake fluid change (due March ...

Winter Tyre’s

Well, for 10 years I ran my E70 on winter tyres from November to March - Vredestein Wintrac Extreme non runflat 19" offset wheels. They were quieter than the Continental, Bridgestone and Goodyear run flat summer tyres I used over that time, and they returned about 2mpg better, when remember, diesel ...

Thanks - next time out I'll try switching them off. I know it's not the air con as I've tried that off and on and off again!

Whooshing noise

Car is a 2018 X4.0d Comfort suspension. 24k miles. 255x50x19 Pirelli Scorpion Verde run flats on all wheels have been on since new. Car sits level - no drop on one side when parked. On some roads seems to be pitching side to side a little (could be the roads of course!) I've noticed for the past ...

Re: 2010 E70 X5 3.0d - Water Pool in Engine Bay

The oval shaped bungs are at the bottom of each well and are awkward to reach by hand! The one on the driver's side under the brake fluid reservoir seems to have a little more room. I've now swapped my E70 for an F15 so I'll need to take a look and see how different it is!

Re: 2010 E70 X5 3.0d - Water Pool in Engine Bay

The drains on each side have a rubber bung with one way valve that soon picks up dead leaves etc - leave them and they'll compost giving you a self watering cabbage patch!! After taking off the plastic covers over the brake fluid reservoir and the other side you'll unfortunately need arms with a ...

Re: Almost 3 years old now

I don't know the conditions attached to the BMW warranty.

The warranty I have is from the dealer where I bought the car - Listers BMW - 200 miles from where I live. it's for 2 years following on from the original 3 year warranty. Without digging into all the paperwork again, I have to get it ...

Re: Aaand...... They're off!

In almost 40 years of travelling around Co Durham for work the only time I was snowed up was in March in the 1980s (can't remember the year but I used to run a Volvo 265 then - winter tyres weren't really heard of at that time. That was near Stockton on Tees in the south of the county - well away ...

Re: Almost 3 years old now

Interesting how the prices vary! My F15 4.0d was 3 years on a week ago. 18000 miles. BMW wanted £1400 for a one year warranty extension via their on-line system. I got a 2 year extension through the dealer's own plan, covers everything the same including breakdown insurance +caravan if being towed ...
