Evening all, I'm looking for the volume control knob from the mid unit for my E53, I'm certain this is universal so an item from another model should fit..

Re: 3.0i cream on dipstick
Whiteish colour, basically water and oil emulsification. Yes, all short trips, 5 miles max. Just had a thought, when I bought it (about 2 mths ago) I noticed that it ran cold so I changed the thermostat and it's been fine since. I wonder if the cold running had been a long time problem, then engine ...

3.0i cream on dipstick
Just checked the oil on my 52 plate 3.0i and I noticed some cream on the dip stick, also there is some under the oil filler cap.
I'm not losing any water so I assume it's not the head gasket and the car runs fine, is this normal?? anyone else have a similar problem??

Re: Fitting a Westfalia Detachable Towbar & Dedicated Electric
Massive thanks to Urbanflow, I printed out your guide and it's been invaluable, I didn't even bother using the Westfalia instructions, you should get a job writing manuals for Haynes.. I deviated from your guide once, I too found that the nuts holding my exhaust heat shields on were in a poor state ...

Re: Fitting a Westfalia Detachable Towbar & Dedicated Electric
Top tip when getting your Westfalia wiring kit from PF Jones. Order the 7 pin wiring kit instead of the 13 pin (7 pin is cheaper) You get sent the 13 pin wiring kit with a natty little plug in adapter to covert the 13 pin socket to 7. 13pin socket on left, adapter on right. http://img.photobucket ...

Tyre Control Inactive, any way to disable it
Evening chaps, I'm getting a Tyre Control Inactive message on my dash, now my E53 is 11 years old so I assume the batteries in the sensors have failed causing this fault. I don't really want the expense of replacing 5 sensors so is there anyway I can simply disable the system so I no longer get the ...

Titan aftermarket tow bar and ALKO hitch
My 3.0i hasn't got a towbar so I have decided to fit a Titan detachable item from PF Jones.. http://www.pfjones.co.uk/bmw-x5-2001-2007-titan-detachable-towbar.html#.UUObZ1fi7B8 Has anyone fitted a Titan towbar. Also, I have an ALKO stabiliser hitch fitted to my caravan, will there be enough ...

X5 newbie from Devon
Evening all, I'm Roger from sunny Devon. Just bought myself a rather nice 52 plate E53 3.0i sport in silver. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v668/alfachats/image_zps2b702879.jpg It's got a few small problems, the dash pixels have failed but I've just fixed that by replacing the ribbon cable and ...
