Re: Considering buying a x5
My local indy recommended the 3.0i manual for minimal faults too. If you go auto, get a facelift. More power and a 6 speed box instead of 5. I bought an auto :) which is for sale, but not in your budget http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/bmw-x5-30d-sport-200555-cheaper-road-tax-bracket ...

Re: FSU location ???
Pretty sure you're looking right at it - I made that mistake also. the plug with that 5 wires is my guess. I was looking for the side with all the cooling pins on it - that bit is tucked into a hole in your air blower system - to aid cooling it I assume. You're looking for the back of it with the 5 ...

Re: Noob with parking sensor woes
Find a program called BMW INPA and a cable. It has a parking sensor test function, and you can check the range and how effective each one it is. I had a temperamental one for ages and didn't bother fixing it till I got the dead tone you describe, as then the whole system failed to operate. INPA ...

Rear Ball Joint Replacement (The squeak)
Sorry I never thought to take photo's. Some basic info - If any one has more, feel free to help out as we have just done one side without releasing the air pressure from the airbag, which made things really difficult to line up, and the long bolt carved a thread in the alloy integral link on the way ...

Re: Sat Nav has totally disappeared from menu :(
I had this exact same problem 3 months after upgrading my nav disc with a copy from the fleabay - I thought the screen was broke. I DOWNGRADED my software back to the original, as my friend who is a BMW tech wouldn't look at it unless it was standard. I have the downgrade disc as the guy put the ...

Re: SLEEP ...ALARM !!!
[quote="Imy"] I often leave my 3yr old in the backseat when I got to pay for petrol and I always lock the car. Without fail the alarm always goes off. It gets to a poor where I tell him he needs to freeze other wise the alarm will go off, and it does, even when all he was doing was "scratching his ...

Did you fix yours or go without?
My Nearside mirror doesnt always dip when in reverse, and doesn't always go back to where it was when I disengage reverse.

How did you get on? Diagnosed with my ear and feeling for the clicking with my finger. Re: Nine days into ownership... Does anything work ??
I have your mirror problem and your rear wiper problem - if you get them fixed, I'd like to know the remedy ;) As for the sat nav update - word of warning.... I done it to mine, worked fine for 3 months. Then my monitor started playing up, changing colours as if a cable was not connected properly ...

Re: Webasto unit running for 30 sec???
I coded my display to show aux heating and ventilation - I then had a nightmare trying to undo it as it prevented my system from working as it was then looking for factory fitted changeover valves that were not there. Other people claim to have done this with success. IMO it is pointless coding it ...

Re: E53 and Tyre pressure warning.
You could also try a motor factor for a new sensor.
They have recently been introduced at a fraction of the price of main dealers.
Garages / Tyre centres You can even buy repair kits for them. (seals, valves etc), so might be a cheaper fix than you think.

Re: Auxillary heater fuel pump
can you guarantee the unit you bought was fault free? Not to insult any member on the forum, but I would be inclined to think you have bought a dud. The fuel pump WILL NOT START if the webasto has a fault logged. When the wake up signal is sent to the webasto, it then performs checks on itself and ...
