Def sounds like a Thermostat. If they break in o[pen position it allows water to circulate constantly. This means the car will not reach optimum tempreture. You may find that your MPG goes down.
Not fitted on an X5 but was very easy on a Z3. I imagine that its a simpe job as there is lots of room ...

I had a water leak on mine that no-one could find, turned out to be some obscure pipe under the manifold. I had the manifold removed when having an injector and glow plug replaced.

Would just like to add that Jason has mapped my Z and track car. He is basically a mapping god...no exageration. You will not be disspapointed with the results I can garuntee. He is also amazing at diagnosing niggles and issues, which before my track car was mapped there was a few.

It is worth remembering the ABS sensors can be cleaned. This solved very similar issues I had with my X5

It is likley fault that the heater FSR is faulty and runnning the heating fan while the eingine is swithced off. Search for 'FSR' or 'Hedgehog'
The X's take a lot to get them to fire, it is likely that the Battery park is producing enough power to get the engine to fire. I remember calling the AA ...

Had the exact same problem with mine. Turned out to be injectors too (had two replaced)....funnnily enough that was after i replaced 2 glow plugs and the battery lol!!!

had it happen to mine a few times after parking over night with two wheels up the kerb and two wheels not. After a swith off and swith back on all levelled up and was fine.

Well I finally found something to replace the X. Has been a struggle surviving with one car for a while but was not actively looking for one. Sold the X5 nearly 5months back now and found this the other day.

I had the Falkens on mine and found them excellent in summer or winter. I only did approx 20k miles on them but looked in good nick and that was on 22" wheels with spacers.
