Yes you have to splice into the loom. The color codes is on this thread.
Yes did cost a pretty bundle but ordered hardware from US, so worked out a lot cheaper than from UK. Saved about 25%.

I would say the weaker is the amplifier. The speakers actually plays extremely well on a aftermarket amplifier.
