Where is the box located? I have a grey box (about the size of a cig packet) located at the top of the rack where the Sat Nave/CD changer etc are located. I supect the original method of finishing the nuts was oil blacking. This can be re-done as follows: To oil black small parts, heat it till the ferrous metal surface changes to a dull blue grey colour (not orange or red hot!). Dip it in oil and remove immediately.
