E70 Dog Guard

I sold my E70 and still have a genuine BMW dog guard, solidly built and complete with mounting brackets. I believe they will only fit 5 seat versions, although I'm not sure. A bargain at £50 plus delivery, which would be around £8, depending on where you live. I didn't have a dog, but had an a ...

Re: E70 items for sale.

The dog guard is still available. I didn't have a dog, but it was good when carrying bigger items in the back, as I always worried about doing an emergency stop and being brained by something flying from the back.

You don't need to have a dog !

Re: Gone to the dark side.....

1500 miles in the 3 weeks I've had it - I'm really liking not visiting the pumps so often, still like driving it, I may well be back, but not for a while yet

Ssh! I’m looking at the shooting brake as next replacement (when the time comes)
I just traded in my 35d for a shooting brake. A different kettle of fish entirely, but a lovely smooth and quiet place to be after the crashy ride of a sports suspension equipped X.

E70 items for sale.

I have just traded in my E70 and have a couple of items - A spacesaver wheel and tyre and jack kit in a carry bag. The tyre is unused. I used the jack once. These are now around £260, so a chance to grab a bargain. £100 ono, plus carriage. A genuine BMW dog guard, complete. These are £145 new, so £5 ...

Gone to the dark side.....

Well, after 20 years of BMW ownership, I've gone over to the dark side and bought a Merc ! I work for a Merc dealership and whilst I'm not overly keen on their offerings generally, I particularly like the CLS Shooting Brake. One of the few perks is seeing the odd car pop up and being able to buy at ...

Re: "repetitive rustling sound" - turned out to be a failing timing chain
If you had described rattling sound I suspect somebody would have suggested exploring possible timing chain or tensioner issues. Sorry but I missed the video link post. I also have not heard of this on other similar engined cars yet. Perhaps someone ran it with wrong oil top up or at ...

Re: 20" Tyres

I had a look at 19'' star marked non- RFT. The front RFT has a load rating of 107, but the star marked non-RFT fronts only have a rating of 103, which I understand is a difference of 100kgs ! Given that the E70 needs fronts with a 107 load rating, 103's don't meet the spec. I was told by one tyre ...

Re: Gear Changes not smooth, holding on to the gear for too long?

I had the g/box, diffs and transfer box fluids changed on mine at 70k. Made a difference to the smoothness of the changes.

Re: "repetitive rustling sound" when start driving

Any exhaust smell in the car?
Hi Riggie, thanks for pointing out to exhaust. It appears that it is indeed coming from under the engine and seems exhaust related, not chain or belt as I have feared. No smell in the car and did not see any smoke ...
