How can i deactivate the transfer box for test purpose? (loud noise under car when coming to stop).

Chaps - my car doesn't seem to have a transfer box module, when i search real oem for my car (june 2001) it doesn't have one listed, but does on later cars. 

Anyone know if this is correct, early cars done have them?

thanks guys, he has had it replaced by a local bmw specialist in the end with a brand new one, yeah i think it was Delphi too.

The other side is almost gone too, so he'll be back next month for a second.

My indy did an M6 oil service for only £210, so paying that for an X5 sounds too much at your indy IMO. My mate just bought a 4.8is, but the front offside airbag has just split.

We found replacements at euro car parts, but 1 with sports suspension and 1 without, which one do i need?  Price is quite different.

Can anyone help me with this?

Dennys - yeah I've done that a few times and it does help, but the car reverts back to my driving style.

I only ever use light throttle so the car is going to respond according to that I guess. Can't afford to drive this juicy V8 around too fast.

Hi guys - how much should I expect to pay for a gearbox update?

In thinking I'd like it done to see if it speeds up the gear change at all.

Any other tips regarding the update would be welcome.

Guys. My 2002 4.4 loses coolant.

Now. I never seen anything leaking, and I never get the coolant low light on, but once a month I have to add 500ml into the tank to get the little red stick to rise.

Any ideas where to look?

I had that done, it does make it feel more responsive for a short time, but soon relearns my slow 'fuel saving' driving style, and goes in to lethargic mode. My drivers door handle is noticeably harder to pull than the other 3.

Is there something I can lubricate?

When I say pretty sure, I haven't actually measured it yet but will do tomorrow.

Ok guys. I'm pretty sure it's still low with engine on. I don't hear any pump or any air leaking sounds.

Where is the level sensor?

What the hell is it?

Rusty- will if self level only once I've turned on the ignition or started engine?

I haven't looked for that so will check it out.
