Re: BMW X5 e70 bad mpg 2007 30d
As Alchemist said probably thermostat. My MPG had dropped off and after some Google’ing I checked the coolant temp on a run and it was low. You can check the temp in the hidden menus (Google it) if you haven’t got diagnostic kit. I changed both thermostats, not a big job, and all was good again. Mi ...

Re: Recall
I’ve had the heater plug and the alternator recall done yesterday. It was in all day and included a complimentary health check (looking for work) and valet. Apart from an engine oil leak I knew about it was all good, not bad for 180,000 miles. I had a 19 plate Mini Cooper Sport for the day, it was o ...

Re: BMW X5 2008 3.0TD: Reduced Boost on Acceleration and unburnt Diesel out of exhaust
I’ve had very similar symptoms on my 08 3.0D and it was due to over boost because of a sticking turbo wastegate. Although that chucked a fault code for overboost too.

Re: Regen cycle - how many failed glow-plugs stop it?
Thanks for the update, glad it’s all sorted. I’ve been slow catching up due to a family emergency. I did get a quote previously for £500 to replace plugs and controller but that can obviously shoot up if there are complications. I don’t know what the in-place kit is but I’ll have to look into that to ...

Re: Regen cycle - how many failed glow-plugs stop it?
A scan on Carly is showing I have 4 glow plugs faulty but car is still doing regens, soot and ash levels low. Is it possible the controller is giving duff codes and the plugs are ok? I have repeatedly cleared the codes but they come back each time.

I’ve not had an issue with mine but it may just be an adjustment, see if there is anything useful here https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e70- ... tch-locks/

Re: TAKING THE DPF OFF
I have codes for 3 glow plugs but it still regens? I have previously changed both thermostats after noticing a drop in mpg which I would of noticed earlier if it had a temp gauge but had to use the hidden menu to find the coolant temp. I’ve since got Carly, which is much easier.

Re: Car niggles
Have you got rear climate control or just the rear heated seats? If it's just the seats then gently prise off the panel with the heated seat switches in and swap the connectors over. If you've the rear climate then I don't know.

Re: Heated seats stopped working
Sounds aftermarket as the seat heater switches should be part of the climate control panel if specced. You'll probably have to chase the wires from the switch to see where they are wired to, could be anywhere if aftermarket..

Re: Removing the front headrests?
They don't remove easily as they have wiring going up to the pyrotechnic for the anti-whiplash deployment. I wanted to fit DVD headrests but decided against it as its all part of the SRS system. Unless you're desperate to remove them I wouldn't mess with them.

Re: EGR Valve
Are you talking coolant temp? I had a similar coolant temp which caused the mpg to drop off. I replaced the main and egr thermostat and that cured it.

Re: Intermittent parking sensor fault and parking camera fault
As no one else has come up with anything yet the only thing I can recommend is to put your ear to each sensor in turn and listen for a clicking noise. The one that isn't clicking is the dodgy one. I've not had any issues with my E70 but it worked to diagnose a problem on my E53.

Re: Advice please
I replaced my OSR a couple of months ago with one from Airdominance. It's recommended you do both sides, I didn't ::) now my NSR has gone pop on the way home. I've just ordered another to arrive tomorrow. Sunday is looking dry so I'll do it then. There is a good write up on Xoutpost, it took about 1 ...

Re: 434E Cooling Air Flap System?
Radiator flaps that open and close for quicker warm up. Not on early models, I believe they came in with the reduced emissions so late 2007. Are they opening and closing depending on whether the car is hot or cold? Incidentally mine is a oct 2007 with lower emission but no rad flaps, I thinks it's ...
