Re: Particulate Fiter & Rear Pads - iDrive warnings.

Thanks very much for all the info. Very helpful. I've been reading on the forum and found this thread. http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9616.0.html It looks like a bottle of Wyns would be worth a go and if that doesn't do it a deep clean of the particle filter by a good indy before ...

Particulate Fiter & Rear Pads - iDrive warnings.

Afternoon All. 2 issues came up on the iDrive today: 1 - Particulate Filter: According to iDrive I need this changed (preferably NOT by BMW). http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj618/Photobucket987/IMG_4656.jpg The car has done 95k miles and is a 2008. We've just done 1400 miles through France in ...

Re: Loud screech from rear wheels when unlocking

Thanks Tom. Soon like you're nearly sorted. Quick update on mine. Actuator needed replacing. New one now fitted and coded to the car (iDrive warning message gone). Not cheap though. Approx costs were Parts £690, labour 3 hours (diagnose problem, fit new parts and recode) total was over £1000 inc VAT. ...

Re: Loud screech from rear wheels when unlocking

TomX5 that exactly what has happened to my car on Friday. I had to get my local garage to come and have a look and managed to get it to them on Friday. Just had a call from the garage to say the motor has gone that controls the handbrake mechanism. Not sure if you have had a quote but they said ...

Replacement Battery - is this the answer ?

Hi, I've been having a few issue with my X5 e70 3.0sd and they are all adding up to make the ownership of the car a pain in the arse now ! - Drivers door doesn't lock from remote (need to use the key in the remote fob to unlock it and lock it, all other doors work with the remote. I appreciate this ...

FOR SALE - 4x Genuine BMW X5 20" V-spoke alloy wheels

I'm selling a set of genuine BMW X5 V-spoke 20" alloy wheels. All wheels have minor scuffs: http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj618/Photobucket987/Screen%20Shot%202015-05-20%20at%2013.11.43.png They were on my 2008 X5 3.0sd when I bought the car 3 years ago: http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums ...

Re: Level control system failure - help

All done. Yes it was a BMW part at that price. They have charged me 2 hours labour (1/2 diagnostics plus 1.5 hours to change the part - BMW quote 1.5 hours for the job too). They also said the other side is fine so stuck with OEM parts and changed the one instead of both. The job came to circa £560 ...

Re: Level control system failure - help

Just had a call from the garage saying circa £520 inc VAT to change one. The part is £280 (rear left bellow) plus two hours labour to install one (not both). Seems huge money. What do you think?  :o

Re: Level control system failure - help

Terrific, thanks. Much less than I hought. I was thinking a lot longer than a couple of hours. Certainly worth doing both for a couple of hours labour. Thanks again for all your help. Much appreciated.

Re: Level control system failure - help
If you are going Arnott (and I would) then do both as you don't want 1 Arnott and 1 BMW in the car do you? Also if one spring has gone how long before the other one goes? May as well get the pair done than pay another labour charge later to get it done when it eventually fails never ...
That's where I got mine. Do the pair.
Thanks. But why would you do the pair if the other side is working ok. Surely its not like tyres where each side needs to be replaced at the same time? If it's not leaking it doesn't need replacing, right?

Re: Level control system failure - help

Wow, thanks very much X5-D-Sport Salisbury. That's all very useful information. I'll get mine to my local independent specialist tomorrow. Hopefully just a replacement air spring. Here's a video of my problem with the hissing noise: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11310109/IMG_9500.MOV Done a ...

Re: Has anyone fitted Arnott rear air springs?

My rear near side suspension is making a hissing noise like the compressor is working but the air suspension is leaking. That corner sits lower than the other side and has caused the front right to look slightly raised as a result. I wondered if you need to therefore replace BOTH air springs ...

Re: Level control system failure - help

Just wondered if you guys got this sorted. The same message has come up on my iDrive today.

My near side rear makes a hissing noise like something is "leaking".

How did you both get on? Any advice or help much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Annoying little issues. Advice needed please as 2 of them are driving me mad.

Thanks Richard and 99ron. All very useful info. 535dboy .......... not so much !! ;) Richard I have tried both original and non OEM discs but both do the same. That now makes me think a possible problem with the laser, or the unit is failing. It certainly seems to work better when cold. Thanks for ...
