Propshaft Vibration X5 4D
I know that this is a topic already discussed but i had a Recall notice inspection carried out last November for Propshaft wear on my X 5 4D,( 2011 ) which had then done approx 19,000 gentle miles, no fault found by Main Dealer. Now three months later at 23,000 miles, firstly i have noticed a drone ...

Re: Pros and cons to replacing RFT with normal tyres
Pros and Cons, without bias.... Ive had 4 X5s, M Sport suspension set up so i guess from memory i've replaced about 20 x RFTs or standard tyres on my X5s over the last eight years . All vehicles had 20 " Rims on the 2005/ 2007/2009/ 2011 X 5 cars....... I have noticed the 4 D with 305 hp goes ...

Re: E53 3.0d sport vs E70 3.0d MSPORT performance
I've had 4 X 5s Both 3D and 4 D M Sport and the first E 53 model was fantastic but a bit underpowered for overtaking at times. The biggest problems was the door seals and wind noise, the E 70 models have much improved door seals and an extra 30 hp and torque help .After 2011 the X 5 gets an 8 speed ...

Re: Xdrive badge on door
Should be on both doors, and in chrome not black like the post on here, thats not a OEM badge and looks wrong ! Has the vehicle had accident damage on the side the badge is missing ?? They dont fall off , and i doubt anyone would steal just one side !

Re: Drive chain snapped??
How many miles had your 2008 X 5 done when the duplex timing chain snapped ? Rubber Toothed steel braid Timing Belts usually carry a replace recommendation at 50,000 miles but i would have thought a double linked Duplex steel chain would be much higher. Never herd of X 5 chain breaking before ...

Re: Repairable?
Thought you could drive after a blow out in a RFT ? So if the repair plug comes out, you just slow down to below 50 mph as per owners handbook and drive home, unlike a normal tyre where loss of control is likely at speed if a tyre does blow, but not a RFT ? Isnt that RFTs biggest selling point apart ...

Re: Pre heating car
I had auxillary pre heating on a Merc CL 500 a few years ago, when i read the owners handbook it said latent heat from a hot engine is stored in a ceramic block, and in the winter i used it occasionally , after parking the car ,with the engine off you pre set the fan heater to blow warm air into the ...

Re: Are cheap tyres really that crap?

Re: Are cheap tyres really that crap?
The two things that would make me shudder to think about on a big heavy performance 4 X 4 is fitting cheap tyres or cheap brake pads ! :( By the time you find out either is not up to scratch your probably looking down on earth with a pair of wings on your back ! O:-) Either your pads dont grip the ...

Re: Good bye X5 - hello Cayenne :)
Nice Swap ! Don't forget to post the Cayenne pics as i might be tempted as my X5 4 D is up for swaps in Jan 2015, and i dont like the looks of the new X 5 , its too lexus boring particularly at the rear end, no flared arches no diffuser details no colour change on the valance or exhaust details to ...
