Re: WANTED - E53 X5 (Poss PX swap For Audi S4 4.2 V8 Avant)
I'm just about to advertise my Facelift 3.0D Sport Auto X5 for sale. 80k miles with FSH up until my ownership (I bought at 68k) and then maintained by me with no expense spared ever since. Not really interested in a PX as I've just bought a 650i Convertible. Full spec available on request but it's ...

Re: new 2001 4.4 various problems
3. I very much doubt it is the motor. Most likely the circuit board that the switches are fixed to has some dry solder joints. You'll need to remove the board from the seats and re-solder all switch connections. I've had this issue myself. 4. Rear light issues are common and are caused by corrosion ...

Re: My manifold dilema with pics!!!now updated and fixed!
It's honestly not a bad job to do. And for the price of the cast iron manifolds, relatively inexpensive. I did mine a couple of months ago with no real issues (although now I'm about to sell my lovely X5 as I've bought an E64).

Haven't got one yet so no pictures I'm afraid. Just doing my research at the moment. Hopefully won't be long.

Typical 4.8 engine issues to be aware of?
So I'm just about to venture into the world of 4.8 ownership, albeit in an E64. Are there any typical engine issues/weaknesses that I should watch out for or expect to encounter at some point?
Many thanks folks.
Many thanks folks.

I used one of these. It has the same split chamber as the OEM stainless so shouldn't lose you any power.

Did it about 4 weeks ago. Not too bad a job but I guess it depends on how much mechanical experience you have. Some good guides on this forum.

I had this issue. I followed the guide below which resolved it 100% (make sure you check out reply #8 in the thread as it shows the ribbon cables in detail).

Injector refurb recomendation
I'm just replacing the cracked exhaust manifold on my 3.0d so whilst the injectors are out I thought I'd get them overhauled. Idle can be just a little lumpy at times and a couple of them were giving noticeable different readings in INPA. Does anyone have any recommendations of companies who are ...

Re: Service and gearbox service
This is what I was talking about in another thread. http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9119.60.html Everybody seems to state that they use a different fluid from everyone else. So there is no clear cut answer on what is right and what is wrong and very little confidence that the correct ...

Re: All prepped for a run to Dortmund.
I think the problem here as that there is much confusion about what transmission fluid can be used. There are plenty of examples on the Internet of various companies supplying (and "fitting") the wrong fluids. There are many different brands and specs and it is hard for Joe Public to know which are ...

Re: Upper tailgate latch bump-stop.....
Ok thanks. So mine are missing too. Might explain the noise even though I have the sprung loaded bump stops in the sides of the tailgate frame of the main chassis.

Re: Upper tailgate latch bump-stop.....
So there are supposed to be rubber bump stops on top of the latch bolts? So that you would have to remove the bump stops in order to undo the latch bolts?

Re: Insurance question
And frustratingly, your premiums will go up because you have made a claim (against the other persons insurance) even though it was the other persons fault.
